Dear First-Time Registration, Returning Students or students applying for an additional Cornerstone qualification,
We are excited to welcome you to Cornerstone Institute for the 2025 academic year.
Classes start on 9 February 2025
To ensure a smooth application and registration process, ensure your application form is completed with all fields populated.
Please note:
- Bachelor of Arts (Alternative Education) – is not a professional teaching qualification
- PGCE in IP and in FP – To meet the undergraduate requirements for entry, you are to provide us with a full transcript with credits and NQF levels and complete the necessary specialization fields on the application form.
- For PGCE in IP, also note that we do not offer the Social Science Didactics undergraduate modules (History and Geography) and Science and Technology undergraduate modules. You can only select those options if you have the undergraduate modules up to NQF level 6 in your previous qualification.
- To apply for Credit Accumulation and Transfer (CAT), please contact the RPL & CAT UNIT at Cornerstone Institute, rplandcat@cornerstone.ac.za.
- Should you be interested in our BA or BCom programmes but do not meet the entry requirements, you may contact our RPL and CAT Unit if you are 23 years old or older to find out more about our alternative access routes. Registration Instructions for First Time Registrations:
- Go to https://aas.cornerstone.codespace.co.za/apply
- Remember to set your password and to keep it somewhere safe for future reference.
- Complete the form
- You will be guided to log into AAS
- Complete the application and registration by following the prompts on AAS.
- Select your modules and follow the prompts for payments.
- Remember to save your application and submit.

- You will be able to register for the 2025 academic year.
- Please consult the Yearbook and refer to to your acceptance letter for your module selection.
- Returning students, please consult the Yearbook for changes to module names and codes and to find the correct modules for you to register for.

- Module content will not be available on our learning management system (LMS) called Funda, until closer to class commencement.
- You should be able to log into Funda to confirm whether your Semester 1 modules have been uploaded. If any of your Semester 1 modules do not appear on Funda as per your Proof of Registration, please contact helpdesk@cornerstone.ac.za to log a support ticket.

Postgraduate Certificate in Education in Foundation Phase Teaching (PGCE in Foundation Phase Teaching) and Intermediate Phase Teaching (PGCE in Intermediate Phase Teaching)
In order to register, students must be in possession of an acceptance letter.
For the modules you are required to register for, please refer to your registration pack and Yearbook. Your registration pack includes the following:

For Returning Students; once Registration is open, you can register via logging into the Student Portal.

For new students, your application into registration completion will go through the following process:
- Verification of your information on our student portal
- Issuance of your acceptance/declined letter
- You select your modules and submit on the Student Portal
- Make payment of the initial student fee using your STUDENT NUMBER as payment REFERENCE. Click here to see fees structure
- Issuance of proof of registration
- Your selected modules will be integrated onto Funda
For returning students, your registration will go through the following process:

Students, you are responsible for ensuring that you select the correct modules. The Institution will not be held responsible for any incorrect module choices you make. Please contact our helpdesk team at helpdesk@cornerstone.ac.za, to request assistance with your module selection.
Module amendments can only be made during the Institution’s module amendment period. Modules can only be amended during the first two weeks after the Semester has commenced. Students, please ensure that you select your correct modules at registration.
Part-time students need to register for 60 to 80 credits per year. Full-time students need to register for approximately 120 to 130 credits per year.
To help you plan your studies, be aware that each credit takes 10 hours of work. So if a module is worth 12 credits, it will take 120 hours to complete, including lectures, readings, research, assignments, etc. If you are not working full-time and dedicating your time to your studies, a full academic load for the year is 120 to 130 credits. If you are working full-time, you might struggle to take more than 60 to 70 credits in a year.
Once your registration is processed, you will receive proof of registration. Please check your proof of registration to ensure that you have registered for the correct modules, and that your Semester modules appear on Funda. Once your modules are available on Funda, please check that your modules correspond with your proof of registration.
