On 6 May 2025, Cornerstone Institute, in partnership with the Camissa Museum, hosted a powerful Critical Dialogue at the historic Castle of Good Hope: “Indigenous or Traditional Recognition?: Khoisan Identity, Recognition and Its Implications in Post-Apartheid South Africa.”
The event brought together a distinguished panel of voices:
- Prof. Nigel Penn – Historian & academic
- Patric Tariq Mellet – Author, activist, and heritage specialist
- Annelize Kotze – Researcher and cultural commentator
Moderated by Dr. Ncebakazi Mnukwana, the discussion explored how Khoi and San identities are framed, claimed, and often contested within contemporary South African discourse.
“This was more than a dialogue — it was an act of truth-telling and collective reflection.”
Together, the panel unpacked themes of historical erasure, recognition politics, and what it means to restore dignity to Indigenous heritage in a post-Apartheid context.
The conversation is now available online.
Watch. Reflect. Share. Let’s keep the dialogue alive.
