TESOL 1A Introduction (12 credits)

This is designed as a stand-alone module as well as an introduction to the TESOL specialisation within the BA and B.Th. It also serves as an introduction to teaching additional languages other than English. Students are introduced to the four language skills, namely, listening, speaking, reading and writing, as well as grammar and vocabulary systems. Method, language learning theory, classroom dynamics and learner needs are explored. Trainees learn to plan, execute and evaluate a short lesson and will be required to spend 10 hours observing in a language classroom.

13 – 25 June:  Classes on campus, Monday through Saturday, 8:30 – 3:30

Note: Classes will not be run on Sunday or 16 June.

27 June – 8 July: Completion of assignments and practicum in your own time. Cornerstone library and other facilities will be open to you.

TESOL 1A Introduction is one of four TESOL credit-bearing modules offered in the accredited degree programmes at Cornerstone Institute. On completion of the winter school module you will receive a certificate of completion.

Admission requirements:

University entrance with 50% for English.

Mature age candidates will be considered.
