The Cape Flats Vision 2030 Conference in Mitchell’s Plain, 16 July, attended by 42 people, were a ‘great start, indeed’, according to its principal organiser, Mthobeli January, Executive Director of Laphumilanga Youth Development Association. The Conference was his brainchild and, according to him, an event of import. “Attendees saw it’s importance, and (already) committed to the next project,” he commented. The greatest value, according to him, was that the ‘”inputs were followed by action plans” and that the Conference serviced its purpose as a platform to share models and new innovations regarding township economy, and community upliftment and empowerment. In fact, Mr January is already consulting with entrepreneurs as an encouraging, direct outcome of the Conference. He thanked Cornerstone Institute for their valuable partnership in the venture, and concluded that he has learned a lot from this Conference in many ways.
