My name is Eliezer Niyokwizera. I am 33 years old. I am married and have two daughters.
Because of the war in Burundi my family fled to Tanzania where we spent 10 years in a refugee camp. In this camp we lived like slaves, we returned to Burundi in 2003 and I spent four years of my life there before I left again because I was forced to join the army and the opposition party wanted to recruit me as well. I refused to join and decided to come to South Africa. Since then I have made South Africa my home.
After experiencing what happened in my country from independence and the troubles that we went through I realised that my people need help in rebuilding a new Burundi. This is why I chose to study a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Community Development Development/Sociology.
