ABOUT AFTON ANTOINETTE MORRIS
My name is Afton and my dream is to be a teacher. I am studying in the Postgraduate Certificate in Education program because I have a passion to help learners be successful. The PGCE program at Cornerstone also offers me the opportunity to work in the field – the experiential aspect in honing my skills as a teacher before I officially complete the certification is hugely valuable.
Completing the PGCE qualifies me to teach in the Intermediate Phase in all the subject areas, but I’ll be specifically focused on the theories of Social Sciences and Life Skills didactics. The qualification also paves the way for engagement in further studies, such as completing my Honours Degree in Education.
After completing my studies, I hope to produce successful learners who will go out in the world and reach their full potential. Quality Primary School is a fundamental stepping stone in producing positive learner outcomes. I want to be a part of that crucial first step in educating learners so that the next generation is prepared for careers that will benefit our country.
